This place is AWESOME! The food is always good😋. I drive over an hour to eat there at least twice a month. Great staff as well. If you haven't tried them... It's a MUST you do!!!!

We have been going here for over 20 years. I do not know how they do it but every piece of catfish is perfectly fried - I mean every one, every time. Never old grease. Their slaw and hushpupies are also so good. Atmosphere: well it is basic. Definitely country. Served on school style lunch plates. BUT you don't come here to impress your girlfriend. You come to satisfy your taste buds with some of the finest catfish around.

Among other things, I had a bowl of the seafood gumbo here this past weekend. It was the best I've had anywhere since I moved here in 1975. It didn't have much in it (the usual sausage, crab, etc) besides the rice and soup, but it didn't matter, it was so rich and flavorful. They have blooming onions here now, and they are quite good!

I ate here for the first time with a good friend that has been coming here her whole life. Food was good, but our waitress was kind of rude, to the point my friend had to say something because it was getting a little uncomfortable. After that she was fine so I'm not sure what the deal was but I would definitely say this is a homey relaxed placed with family style eating.

Our third time eating here. Why we came back is beyond me. I guess we were happy the first 2 times. This time the fried catfish meat was mushy and had a weird smell. It was crispy on the outside. Mushy on the inside. The French fries were ok. Typical frozen food. The cold slaw tastes good but dripping in dressing. Way to much dressing. The wait staff were nice. Very friendly too. I actually hate giving them only 2 stars but the stench outside makes me almost puke. It’s either their grease trap or sewer line. But it stinks bad. I’m thinking this was our last time at Cuevas’s Catfish House. They keep on packing them in. In fact, there was a wait to get in. So maybe I’m just spoiled by fresh food, cooked perfectly, in a restaurant that smells good and only costs a few dollars more and they actually have real dinner plates not the sectioned off plates we used in grammar school. Oh. The hush puppies were awesome!
